Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common issues on each platform.

Windows

  • “Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen)

    Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. The installer is unsigned, not unsafe.

  • Antivirus blocked or deleted it

    It’s a false positive on the unsigned installer. Restore it or add an exclusion, then reinstall from ClamperzSetup.exe.

  • Nothing happens after installing

    Open “Clamperz” from the Start menu — ClamperzSetup.exe is only the installer, not the game itself.

  • “This app can’t run on your PC”

    Re-download ClamperzSetup.exe. Clamperz needs 64-bit Windows (10 or 11).

macOS

  • “Apple cannot check it for malware”

    Right-click (Control-click) Clamperz in Applications → Open → Open. You only do this once.

  • “Clamperz is damaged and can’t be opened”

    Open Terminal and run: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Clamperz.app — then open it again.

  • Still blocked after right-click → Open

    Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click “Open Anyway”.

  • On an Intel Mac?

    The .dmg is Apple-Silicon only. Use the Java JAR download instead (needs Java 11).

Linux

  • How do I install the .deb?

    Double-click Clamperz.deb to open Software Install, or run: sudo apt install ./Clamperz.deb

  • Dependency or install errors

    Run: sudo dpkg -i Clamperz.deb then sudo apt-get install -f to pull in anything missing.

  • “Wrong architecture” / won’t install

    The .deb is 64-bit (amd64). On an ARM Linux machine, use the Java JAR instead (needs Java 11).

  • Not on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint? (Fedora, Arch…)

    The .deb won’t install there. Use the Java JAR download (needs Java 11).

Java JAR

  • Double-clicking the .jar does nothing

    Java 11 isn’t installed. Get it from Adoptium Temurin 11 (adoptium.net), then reopen ClamperzLauncher.jar.

  • Want to see the actual error?

    Open a terminal in the download folder and run: java -jar ClamperzLauncher.jar

  • “Unsupported Java version”

    The game runs on Java 8–22 (Java 11 recommended). Java 23 and newer won’t work — install Java 11.

All platforms

Can’t connect / stuck on loading

Check your internet connection, allow Clamperz through your firewall, and check the forums for server status.

Update failed

The launcher falls back to your installed client. Reconnect and reopen Clamperz to finish updating.

Launcher won’t start at all

Reinstall from the download page — your saved logins and settings are kept.
